This week we make temporary allies with the Empire as we dive in to 1994's The Truce at Bakura! We've got unique enemies in the Ssi-Ruuk (Jesse's space raptors), Luke's first girlfriend, and some really unique Jedi development in the main story. We also have an entertaining but outdated Holonet (we recorded this episode 3 weeks ago), and Mike continues to throw the terrible hot takes (who doesn't like Game of Thrones)?

For the past few days we were both in Tulsa, so we've decided to push our Truce at Bakura episode back a week and share some extra content that we recorded from Jesse's couch. This week we talk about the Star Wars Resistance trailer, the overwhelmingly negative reviews for it on Youtube, and our thoughts on the series a little more than a month before it airs. We also rank the 5 aliens absent from the sequel trilogy (so far) that we wish we could see more of.
We recorded some other bonus content, and the first that we want to share with you is a listen-along commentary to The Force Awakens! This week we continue exploring Marvel's Star Wars comics run with issues 7-12, an arc titled "Showdown on the Smugglers Moon." This episode brings some surprising new underworld characters (including a buff Hutt!), Jedi paraphenelia, Jesse thinking that every callback or reference is poetry, and Mike identifying a flaw in Obi-Wan (why is he in cantinas so often?!?!? just sayin').
We also talk about upcoming Canon novels, tabletop gaming news from GenCon, Star Wars content intended for younglings, and investigate the results of a recent twitter poll!

Welcome back to the Canon Cantina! Today we dive into the first arc of the current canon run of Marvel Comics Star Wars series. This story takes place soon after Episode IV, and was released in early 2015 as one of the first pieces of the new Disney-era canon timeline. Mike and Jesse spend a LONG time discussing the pivotal events that contributed to Luke's development in the last film of the Original Trilogy.
